William C. Bonaudi Library: Policies

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

All users must SIGN AND RETURN a completed Departmental Borrowing Agreement: Click here to download the form
Note:
Legal guardians must sign for Running Start Students.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Borrowing Privileges & ID cards:

BBCC students use their BBCC ID cards to borrow materials. We make BBCC Student ID cards in the library, cards can be created whenever the library is open. The first card is free. Replacement cards cost $3.

Community Users:

BBCC  allows anyone residing within the college’s service district to use the library. Nonstudent users must provide picture ID and proof of local address to create an account for borrowing.  ANYONE UNDER 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN.

Course Reserves:

Instructors may place items on reserve.  These items are held behind the Library Reference Desk indefinitely. Although they may appear in the library catalog, they are unavailable for loan and are almost always for library use only. Generally, reserve items DO NOT include textbooks.

Used Textbooks:

We have a selection of donated / used textbooks available in the library for students to check out for the quarter. They are located across from the library circulation desk.

Returns:

Returning all materials to the Bonaudi Library is the responsibility of the borrower. Materials cannot be returned anywhere else without prior arrangements being made with the BBCC Library.

After Hours Book Drops:

Any item may be returned in the library's outside drops. A "drive up" drop is located behind the library on Bolling Street and the second is built into the brick wall on the south side of the building near the "middle" entrance to ATEC.

Overdues, Fines, Fees, Transcript Holds, and Collections:

Overdue notices are sent every seven days after items are one week overdue. Four notices are sent, the final is a fines and fees notice. If items are returned in good condition prior being sent to collection all fines and fees are cleared. Accounts with materials overdue for two months or more are sent to an agency for collection. Once an account has been sent to collection only the collection agency can clear the account. Materials returned after an account has been sent to collection will be considered donations. Lost or returned items deemed beyond repair will be billed at a cost determined by the library plus processing fees. Fees for damaged but usable or repairable materials are also charged. Replacement items will not be accepted.

IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS: Overdue items or unpaid library fees or fines will result in a hold on registration, grades, and transcripts as well the suspension of borrowing privileges until the items are returned or arrangements are made to pay fines or fees.

Study Rooms:

The study rooms at the back of the library are on a first come, first served basis. They are meant for groups of people who are studying together.  If you are using the study rooms, please keep in mind that there may be others who are waiting to use them and try not to overstay unnecessarily.

PIANO PRACTICE ROOM - Study Room # 1811 has a piano and head phones in it for practice purposes.  If there is a student who needs to use it for practice, and you are using it as a study room, you may be asked to move to another room.

Lost and Found:

Items that are left or turned in to the library are held at the Library Desk until the end of the quarter.  If there is a name or identification on the item, someone from the library may contact the individual via BBCC email or phone.
