Alma Patron Bills integration with PeopleSoft

Known as "bursar out" in Alma

Bursar - Ex Libris Developer Network (exlibrisgroup.com)

Bursar Systems - Ex Libris Knowledge Center (exlibrisgroup.com)

The problem currently is willingness on the ctcLink team to support data exchange between non-core third-party systems and PeopleSoft. This integration would require cooperation at the SBCTC level, and not just the institutional level.

SMS Notifications from the Library

SMS Communications - Ex Libris Knowledge Center (exlibrisgroup.com)

SMS - Ex Libris Developer Network (exlibrisgroup.com)

Requires the availability of a separate SMS service capable of accepting delivery of notifications via SFTP transfer, and parsing those XML-formatted notifications into deliverable SMS messages.

For Skagit, our FTE dropped dramatically from pre-Covid to post - we are below 3,000 for the first time since I started here 13 years ago...

I just found out that our post-COVID student worker crew was never trained to scan materials for in house browses. They were just reshelving.  So they will start now.  I take the counts with a grain of sand because they also get a count as part of processing, I believe.
*grain of salt ha ha
From Lauren Bryant to Everyone 10:18 AM
We keep very accurate door counts (of people walking through our gates). We make some assumptions based on this, but I'm finding this data very interesting!
From Lauren Bryant to Me (Direct Message) 10:19 AM
I see a "Current subscriptions" spreadsheet from 2018. This is very valuable to us. Thank you for creating this. We'd be interested in updated information for this too.
From Elena Bianco (she/her) -  Skagit to Everyone 10:21 AM
One of our student users was checking in returned items multiple times, so I’m sure our in-house use counts are way off…
Student worker, I meant...
From Tria Skirko to Everyone 10:52 AM
We're not using it with Alma, but WVC uses Signal Vine for student messaging.

Our campus uses RAVE https://www.getrave.com/help/unauthenticatedHelp.action
From Elena Bianco (she/her) -  Skagit to Everyone 10:53 AM
We also use Rave, but it’s limited now to emergency communications.
From Melinda Martin to Everyone 10:53 AM
We use RAVE as well. Just didn't know if the ability to use it was specific to the emergency system
From Elena Bianco (she/her) -  Skagit to Everyone 10:54 AM
We use TargetX for communicating with students about registrations…
From Lauren Bryant to Everyone 10:54 AM
@Melinda Yes you might be right. It looks like its just for emergencies.
From Tria Skirko to Everyone 10:54 AM
We also have RAVE for emergency communications.  I'm assuming we purchased SignalVine b/c we needed something else for student messaging about advising, etc.
From Elena Bianco (she/her) -  Skagit to Everyone 10:54 AM
Oops didn’t finish - Target X for registration, events, etc.
From Melinda Martin to Everyone 10:55 AM
Curious about opt-in/out issues for students as well.
But it's got merit as another means of communication!
From Lauren Bryant to Everyone 10:55 AM
I know Springshare LibAnswers/LibChat can send text messages. I'm not sure if that would help here.
From Me to Everyone 10:58 AM
The Pitt ULS has written an integration with Telnyx.  Another common service is Twillio.  You'll get a flat file of messages to be sent from Alma via sFTP, and you'll need to format and pass them along to the service.
From Laura Staley - Renton Tech to Everyone 10:58 AM
We use SignalVine. Not for library communications though.
From Melinda Martin to Everyone 10:59 AM
Thanks all! :)
From Laura Staley - Renton Tech to Everyone 11:00 AM
