Video and Audio
All video and audio media with language (words) must be captioned. The easiest way to achieve this is to create your media in BBCC’s licensed video lecture capture software Panopto, as the software will auto-caption the media.
If using pre-existing video or audio, upload those files to Panopto, then do the following steps to caption them:
- If not enabled in Canvas, select Settings>Navigation>Panopto Recordings.
- Select the 3 vertical dots on the Panopto tile, then Enable.
- Save your Settings at bottom of the page.
- Select Panopto Recordings
- Hover the cursor over the video you want to caption, and select Edit. (If you are hard-wired using ethernet cable, Panopto will go into Edit mode much more quickly than if you are working wirelessly. Don’t panic if it takes awhile, work on something else but keep the Panopto window open).
- Select Captions on the left menu
- Select Import Captions>Import Automatic Captions (DO NOT use the Request Captions option)
- The captions are almost instantaneous, but remember to select the green Apply button on the horizontal tool bar at top to save them.
- Ally may not catch the new changes, but don’t stress over it. The captions are there even if Ally does not “see” them.
